John Grierson

John Grierson was a Scottish documentary maker who was often considered to be the father of British and Canadian documentary film. John Coined the term 'documentary' after watching and reviewing Robert Flaherty's documentary 'Moana'. One of John's most famous and successful films was 'Night Mail'. Although John was a greeter documentary maker some did argue that his work involved propaganda and persuasion.
