This video explains in more detail the role of Lucy, she doesn't have a huge role in our opening but is a very important character as she challenges the stereotype of women. She is the boss of the gangsta, and therefore has more authority than him, which we don't expect from a woman especially in the era. We chose a female for this role on purpose due to the fact that we wanted to challenge the film noir genre itself which is known to have overpowering male characters. We thought this would be a good way to challenge the genre without attempting the change the codes and conventions too much, which may have made the film confusing for the audience, moving away from the film noir genre.
