Diary
January 21st -
This is the first day with using the camera, microphone and stand, so we found that we need to take some practise shots to figure how to use it all properly. We found it was difficult to get the right lightening for what we wanted, and so from this we learnt that we really been to plan what time of day we wanted to film our final production. We also learn how to put the camera on the stand for future reference.
January 22nd -
The next day we decided to do a demo scene of what we wanted one scene to look like in the final production. We did have a few problems with this. We found it difficult to use the focus on the camera so that we could have an extreme close up and then a zoom out of the extreme close up, this resulted in being quite difficult as the focus kept going in and out. We've found that on a few occasions the focus hasn't been very good and so we have had to film scene over and over again to make sure that what we are filming was in focus. Another problem that we came across was that the setting wasn't very believable as we just used one of the girls boarding house room and so it didn't set the scene for our opening we thought. And so this is when we changed from a bedroom scene to an outdoor scene at night time, this is so we can do a better job and execuit the situation better than if it was in a bedroom.
January 24th -
Today we are filming the car scene. We decided to shoot this scene at around 5-6pm so that the lightening wasn't too dark that we wouldn't see anything but it wasn't in the day as the scene is at night time. We did have to shoot the same thing over and over as there were a few problems with focusing, or somethings sound, sometime the actors weren't loud enough and so we have to keep re filming and also from different camera angles.
February 4th-
We've had some technical difficulties with the editing software and so couldn't yet find time to start the editing with the footage we had taken. We wanted to use this footage so we became familiar to premiere pro which we will be editing our production on. We put the best scene together, cropping out the delays in the speech or noise in the background or when one of us would say action. The next step now is to get more footage taken so we can put it together. We also need to start thinking about music we want in our opening.
February 7th -
Today we planned to do some filming at night, we had to think about the lighting though, as because it was dark we wanted to still be able to see our characters clearly. We successfully got some shots with a lamp which created a cool effect. We took a lot of shots from different angles and so we could decide which ones were the best.
February 8th-
We carried on with some shooting in the dark again, this time we were filming the phone call scenes. we had some problems with the wind blowing and so it affected the microphone when the character was speaking his lines. We solved this by putting on the fluffy thing that helps prevent the windy noise.
